********************************************************************************************** 9/8/2011 " Electric Car Battery Makers Face Shakeup Amid Soft Demand" Worldwide
Lithium-ion production is projected to exceed future demand resulting
in the demise of the less well positioned suppliers such as A123
Sustems and Enerdel. By 2015 battery production is expected to reach 30
GWH, but vehicles will only use between 2 and 20 GWh according to Lux
Research Group. ***********************************************************************************************by Charles Murray at: http://www.designnews.com/author.asp?section_id=1366&doc_id=233111 October , 2010 " Volt Battery May Be Poised for Success" To
compress the time to market the Chevy Volt innovation and invention was
implemented in parallel with the vehicle development. Such a
combination may increase the risk of problems, but GM invested heavily
in an advanced battery lab and a millions of miles on real-world
vehicles. The introduction will be a combination of customer perceived
value with technical reliability and safety in high volume production
over a yet to be observed lifetime. As with the GM EV 1 there will be
many lessons learned. by: Charles Murray in Design News October 2010, pp 27-30 w3ww.designnews.com *********************************************************************************************** 7/20/2011 "New Breed of Lithium Batteries" The popularity of Lithium ion both in cylindrical and polymer continues to both find new products to power, and to replace other chemistires such as Nickel-metal hydride. The popularity of Lithium-ion feeds on its basic energy density which continues to grow. by: Chalres Murray, in Design News, http://www.designnews.com/document.asp?doc_id=231504 ![]() Data From above article, graph, by Teksym, copyright Teksym Corporation Teksym Back to the top Batteries Digest CES 2011 |
