NEC, developer of carbon nanotube production technology, is scheduled to meet its 2005 target launch time for fuel cells. The Nihon Keizai Shimbum’s business daily reported in August that NEC would begin mass production of carbon nanohorns (a conical variation of nanotubes) in 2004 at a rate of one ton per year. The carbon nanohorms would facilitate the catalytic process in compact fuel cells for such electronic applications as mobile phones.(10-02BD79-11)
