Goals of Mission Work
Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded to you."
We at Peace have taken 'The Great Commission" seriously and have dedicated ourselves
to supporting missions that Jesus also said, "To whom much is given, much is expected." (Luke

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Visit the Salvation Army
Eight women from Peace Lutheran Church in Palm Desert visited the Salvation Army in Cathedral City on March 12, 2005. They were graciously greeted by Envoys Dana and David Manriquez and given a tour of the facility and treated to a lovely tea.
The facilities at the Salvation Army headquarters in Cathedral City include a chapel, offices, classrooms and a fellowship hall. Services on Sunday morning are conducted in both English and Spanish. In addition, the center holds Bible studies, Sunday School and computer classes, and the staff will soon begin an after school program for children.
The ladies viewed a film about the work the Salvation Army is doing throughout the world and also learned more about its founder, William Booth, who in the late 1860s established the Salvation Army in England. Reverend Booth, a Methodist minister., was especially interested in spreading the Word of God and helping those people who were experiencing the “horrors” of being poor, with little to eat and sometimes no home or shelter. Through faith, Reverend Booth’s ministry grew. Today, God’s Word, and its associated Christian service ministry, has spread and the Salvation Army has been blessed with facilities throughout the world.
Peace Lutheran has been a active supporter of the Salvation Army to provide food for families in the Cochella Valley. This Easter, Peace will provide and deliver food to 12 families, including Easter baskets for the children. The members of Peace also support families at Christmas.
Working together with the Salvation Army, the members of Peace Lutheran believe they can joyfully work to spread the Gospel and extend Christian love to their neighbors.
“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Galatians 6:10 (NIV) .
