 Texas Instruments (TI) develops algorithm model that allows for 99 percent accuracy in calculating the remaining capacity of Lithium-based multi-cell batteries. TIís patented technology called the Impedance Track tracks changes in resistance caused by battery age, temperature and cycle patterns thus allowing it to accurately predict run time of the battery packs that include from two to  four cells. The algorithm  is able to determine how much a battery has degraded as it ages along with temperature and usage.  It then correlates the factors to the chemical properties of the anode and cathode in the battery cell.  The entire algorithm model is on a single chip which is integrated into the battery pack.
